ELMSDALE - Westisle Composite High School will host six of the Skills Canada provincial competitions on Tuesday. More than a dozen students from the West Prince high school, as well as several other secondary and post secondary students will participate.
All-day competitions will be held for secondary electronics and secondary and post-secondary hairstyling. Those competitions will start at 8:30 a.m. and run until at least 3 p.m.
Job skills and job interview competitions for high school students will start at 9 a.m. and the prepared speech competition will commence around 10 a.m.
The hairstyling competition will be held in Westisle's cosmetology classroom while the other competitions will be held in the gymnasium.
The Westisle competitions, as well as competitions held at other locations across the province this week, are open to the public, free of charge.
Westisle students have captured the most provincial awards of any P.E.I. high school the last two years. More than a dozen Westisle students will be competing in the Westisle competition on Tuesday, and another 30 will be entered in other competitions across the province.
Awards from the provincial competitions will be handed out March 11 at Holland College's Tourism and Culinary Centre.
