This week at Westisle
By Student Reporter Hannah Wood
The Provincial Skills Canada competitions have been going very well. Westisle has 34 competitors in 14 competition areas. We hosted five competitions at Westisle (Hairstyling, Job Interview, Job Skill Demonstration, Prepared Speech and Electronics).
Winners of these Provincial Competitions will go on to represent P.E.I. at the National Skills Canada Competitions in Mississauga, Ont., in the spring. The awards ceremony is set for Wednesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. at the culinary Institute in Charlottetown.
On Wednesday, March 12, we will be sending 30 students to the Youth Entrepreneur Forum at the Rodd Mill River Resort. These students will be exposed to some quality speakers and presenters and are in for a great day. Westisle will also be sending a panel of Grade 10 students to Hernewood and M.E.Callaghan to speak with the Grade 9s about the transition to high school.
March Break is the week of March 17-21 so there are no classes that day.
Looking ahead to April, parent-teacher interviews will be on Thursday, April 3, from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, April 4, from 10 a.m.-12 noon.
The annual Bluefield High School Friendship hockey tournament is taking place from April 1-5, with men's and women's team participating.
