Once every two years, the people of the earth get together for a joyous celebration involving two weeks of non-stop television coverage, honourable awards and a multinational army of sweaty athletes. Of course the Winter Olympics are the only ones with hockey so let's talk about that. Sochi hosted a spectacular Olympics this year, even coming quite close to Vancouver in terms of the opening ceremony's "Wow Factor". However, the greatest thing about the Olympics was not the sports, the medals or the figure skaters it was how despite all the controversy over certain issues in Russia, the world still came together for a Hell of a good show. Anybody can go sledding down a hill in a fibreglass box, but the remarkable part is that the nations of the world can put aside their differences and ride those boxes together. Despite how messed up we humans have made our world, I think that every two years our species proves that we are truly good deep down simply by putting down the sword and picking up the hockey stick. And that is truly inspiring.
