Joining her will be Eddy Quinn and John Webster from the group Fiddlers’ Sons. Quinn is a Celtic and traditional singer and songwriter who recently won a P.E.I. Music Award for Country Album of the Year. His charming storytelling and humour is a perfect combination with his soothing voice.
John Webster’s fun guitar playing and song-writing make him one of P.E.I.’s most loveable musicians. His writing styles and melodies are very unique and is the heart of the band. Together, Fiddlers’ Sons have won several P.E.I. Music Awards, and their unique blend of old-fashioned music, jokes, and stories have made them one of P.E.I.’s most popular groups.
These two boys paired with Hogan-Chandler’s foot stomping, hand clapping fiddle style will be a must-see for music fans. Her busy summer schedule has found her playing just about every night all over P.E.I., so it’s a real treat for her to play closer to home.
“My husband moved into the ‘Old Mayne Homestead’ a few years ago, and we recently tied the knot. I’m hoping to be able to bring a few shows to Emerald next summer so this is a little test-drive,” says Hogan-Chandler. “It’s such a beautiful community with great local support, and there’s certainly some advantages to be able to walk down Countyline Road to a show.”
And she’s hoping to make a good impression on her new community by bringing along some of P.E.I.’s finest performers with her good friends from Fiddlers’ Sons.
Courtney’s double album, “Swinging on a Note,” will be available at intermission. The album includes a wide variety of performers playing with Courtney including Richard Wood, Jon Matthews, Gordon Belsher, Fiddlers’ Sons, Meaghan Blanchard, Lester MacPherson, and many more.
The show is Aug. 30 at the Emerald Community Centre, 1910 Nodd Rodd. Admission is at the door. Food and drinks will be available at the Boxcar Pub & Grill throughout the evening.
