The consolidation of Old Dutch Snack Food's eastern operations has brought 12 administrative jobs to Summerside's Slemon Park. All of the positions in the new office have been filled since late April.

"Prince Edward Island's economy will benefit because of Old Dutch's decision to bring its eastern administrative functions to a single headquarters in Slemon Park," said Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allan Campbell in a news release. "This is a fine example of Islanders' strong work ethic and capabilities."

Through the Innovation and Development Labour Rebate program (IDLR), the company will receive financial support over three years based on the number of jobs it creates. IDLR is administered by Innovation P.E.I. through the Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning.

"The Summerside administration team is a very strong, very experienced group that is well respected throughout the company," said Old Dutch representative, Glen MacKinnon. "That was evident in 2000 when Humpty Dumpty (now owned by Old Dutch) purchased Humpty Dumpty USA and the Atlantic Administration Team was given the task of supporting the US operation."

Strength and experience were not the only factors influencing Old Dutch to choose Summerside as its location for the new consolidated office. "The strong base of bilingual employees is critical to the amalgamation of the Quebec administration," said MacKinnon.
