SUMMERSIDE - A Charlottetown-based contact centre is wasting little time in setting up shop.
Advantage Communications Inc. plans to set up its Summerside operations within days and be operational by June.
Advantage Communications Inc. provides customer relationship management solutions to clients across North America. Based in Charlottetown, the company has operations in Souris, P.E.I., and Dieppe, N.B.
Advantage president and CEO Kent MacPhee said once the decision was made to come to Summerside it was full speed ahead.
"Summerside was a relatively easy decision for us, a very rapid decision," MacPhee said. "Summerside will become a home for Advantage Communications possibly as early as next Monday (May 3). The moment that we leave here we're going to search for that space."
He said there have been sites looked at and there will be a temporary office set up for Monday morning.
"Our plans are to expand during our first year of operation to 100 employees," he said. "I anticipate 30 to 40 during the first 90 days."
MacPhee said Advantage has an ambitious schedule for recruiting workers and hopes to begin hiring as early as next week.
"We hope to go live in Summerside with our first call, June 1," he said.
One of the reasons Advantage Communications decided on Summerside was its workforce.
"We decided to expand to this area because of a well trained, experienced workforce," MacPhee said. "Employees available to us are second to none in terms of skill and work ethic. Advantage Communications is looking forward to becoming a member of the Summerside businesses community."
Advantage Communications is eligible to apply for labour rebate programs delivered by the Department of Innovation and Advanced learning and Innovation P.E.I. The company will receive funding based on the number of jobs it creates.

Summerside will soon be the place to be . A lot of people are negative when they hear the word call centre, however a job is a job . It isn't for everyone , but the skills that are developed within these environments are benificial to your future.

    Go Kent Go !
