TAMPA, Fla. - George Steinbrenner is taking an active part in the New York Yankees organizational meetings.
Team officials met for about two hours with Steinbrenner at the Tampa home of the 79-year old principal owner during the second day of team meetings on Thursday.
Managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner, team president Randy Levine, general manager Brian Cashman, manager Joe Girardi and chief operating officer Lonn Trost were among those in attendance.
"He was all business," Cashman said of the lunch with the Boss.
Co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner took part in a later session at the Yankees spring training complex.
George Steinbrenner has kept a low profile since up giving day-to-day control of the Yankees to his sons, Hal and Hank Steinbrenner two years ago.
The Yankees are addressing a number of issues, including the interest level in re-signing in-house free agents Johnny Damon and World Series MVP Hideki Matsui. Pursuing free agents such as Matt Holliday and John Lackey is also being discussed.
"We haven't had any negotiations with anybody," Cashman said. "The business we discussed was done internally. There were no outgoing phone calls."
The Yankees are expected to continue monitoring the potential trade status of Toronto ace Roy Halladay. The 2010 payroll parameters should be finalized on Friday when the meetings are scheduled to conclude.
